The New Vision of FOLA
An exhibition to develop multi dimensional Information Literacy
Introduction
‘Information Eye- the new vision of Foundation for Library Awareness (FOLA) for the Value Based education - is the successfully running project to improve the reading habits in the society. It describes a particular topic in three different angles – Objects, Documents and Information- to make the topic easier to understand. Most of the exhibits are arranged in the shape of the square pyramid. The Pyramid structure is chosen here to reveal the meaning of the topic from object to information via document. General Information gained from objects at the lower level is gradually turned into specific knowledge in the upper level.
Objectives
The objective of the exhibition is to
*Increase the information literacy of readers,
*Show the various dimensions of Information to the readers,
*Introduce three dimensional role of library with script, picture and object of a specific subject,
*Encourage the evidence based education system in the country.
FOLA
The Information eye is one of the reading promotional programmes of FOLA established for a combined, concentrated effort by all interested in this noble task with an aim in view to make Libraries, Information and Documentation centres socially useful and make them to contribute for the development of knowledge, power and experience. Keeping in view that our attainment in the level of reading is very low though we boast of a high literacy level in our society and Education is considered a sound investment for earning money. Education is no longer considered a means of acquiring knowledge and Educational institutions are fast becoming certificate - producing agencies. This pathetic situation has led to serious thought and the result is the establishment of the Foundation for Library Awareness, shortly named as FOLA. The vision is to search for independent thinking goes beyond knowledge, with reading habit as its base and should be developed by coordinating all resources to achieve that aim of building up a ‘living’ human society.

Then it was taken to 35 schools in the same name as mobile exhibition. It was again remodeled to suit the university readers in the name of ‘Path to knowledge’. It was then taken to various schools in different names. Now the name of the exhibition has been finalized as Information Eye.
